A Chondritic Solar Neighborhood

چکیده

Abstract A persistent question in exoplanet demographics is whether exoplanetary systems form from similar compositional building blocks to our own. Polluted white dwarf stars offer a unique way address this question, as they provide measurements of the bulk compositions material. We present statistical analysis rocks polluting oxygen-bearing dwarfs and compare their solar system. find that majority extrasolar are consistent with composition typical chondrites. Measurement uncertainties prevent distinguishing between chondrites Earth but do permit detecting differences chondritic basaltic or continental crust. no evidence crust among polluted dwarfs. show nature also supported by local stars. While galactic chemical evolution results variations relative abundances rock-forming elements spatially temporally on galaxy-wide scales, current sample sufficiently young close not affected process. conclude exotic required explain observed rock types around stellar neighborhood generally due significant initial protoplanetary disks. Nonetheless, there observations planets formed first several billion years Galaxy have lower metal core fractions compared average.

0 Stellar Pollution in the Solar Neighborhood

We study spectroscopically determined iron abundances of 642 solar-type stars to search for the signature of accreted iron-rich material. We find that the metallicity [Fe/H] of a subset of 466 main sequence stars, when plotted as a function of stellar mass, mimics the pattern seen in lithium abundances in open clusters. Using Monte Carlo models we find that, on average, these stars have accrete...

A Catalog of Moving Group Candidates in The Solar Neighborhood

Based on kernel estimator and wavelet technique, we have identified 22 moving group candidates in the solar neighborhood from a sample which includes around 14000 dwarfs and 6000 giants. Six of them were previously known as the Hercules stream, the Sirus-UMa stream, the Hyades stream, the Caster group, the Pleiades stream and the IC 2391; five of them have also been reported by other authors. E...

Weathering of Chondritic Meteorites

Meteorites are frequently not the pristine record of early solar system processes that we would like them to be. Many unique meteorites, samples that can further our understanding of the environment of the early solar system, are finds, so a knowledge of terrestrial weathering becomes a requirement to accurately interpret their preterrestrial history. This chapter outlines the weathering proces...

Radial Transport in the Solar Nebula: Implications for Moderately Volatile Element Depletions in Chondritic Meteorites

In this paper, the possibility that the moderately volatile element depletions observed in chondritic meteorites are the results of planetesimals accreting in a solar nebula that cooled from an initially hot state (temperatures > 1350 K out to ~2-4 AU) is explored. A model is developed to track the chemical inventory of planetesimals that accrete in a viscously evolving protoplanetary disk, acc...

Early Solar System hydrothermal activity in chondritic asteroids on 1-10-year timescales.

Chondritic meteorites are considered the most primitive remnants of planetesimals from the early Solar System. As undifferentiated objects, they also display widespread evidence of water-rock interaction on the parent body. Understanding this history has implications for the formation of planetary bodies, the delivery of water to the inner Solar System, and the formation of prebiotic molecules....
